CapGen — My First AI-Powered App

CapGen started with a simple problem I faced while posting on Instagram.

I post a lot of photos and videos, especially from travel, hiking and everyday experiences. Creating the content is fun, but coming up with the perfect caption and hashtags can sometimes take more time than expected.

I wanted to build something that could solve this problem for me.

The Idea

Most AI caption tools require you to describe your photo before they can generate a caption.

I wanted something different.

Why should I describe my photo to AI when AI can see the photo itself?

That became the core idea behind CapGen.

With CapGen, you can provide your content and let AI analyze what is actually visible — the setting, mood, activity, surroundings and overall context — before generating caption ideas.

How CapGen Works

The experience is simple:

Upload your content → Let AI understand it → Generate captions → Pick your favorite → Copy & Post

CapGen generates multiple caption options based on your content, allowing you to choose the one that best matches your personality and the post.

Different Caption Styles

Different posts need different personalities.

CapGen can generate captions in different tones, including:

This makes it easy to experiment with different styles without rewriting the caption yourself.

Relevant Hashtags

CapGen also generates hashtags based on the context of your content.

Instead of relying on a generic list of hashtags, the goal is to create hashtags that are relevant to the actual photo or video.

For example, a mountain hiking photo can generate hashtags related to hiking, mountains, nature, travel and adventure.

I wanted the final step to be as simple as possible.

Once I find a caption I like, I can quickly:

Built With AI

CapGen was also an experiment in how far I could go from idea → working application using AI-assisted development.

I used AI to help with the development process, while LYZR Agent Studio powers the AI agent behind the experience.

This project gave me an opportunity to experiment with AI agents, prompt engineering, UI development and connecting an AI backend with a real-world application.

Why I Built CapGen

CapGen wasn't created because I wanted to build another AI tool.

It started because I personally had this problem.

I wanted to spend more time creating and sharing content and less time thinking:

"What should I write for this post?"

That small frustration became an idea, and that idea eventually became my first AI-powered app.
